Oshwal Education and Relief Board (OERB)
The Oshwal Education and Relief Board (OERB) is a non-profit organisation established in 1941 by members of the Oshwal Community in an effort to unite the various Oshwal Communities across East Africa. The founding fathers envisioned a strong and empowered Oshwal community through the provision of educational facilities for its members, hence the birth of Oshwal Academy. They were also mindful of the need to provide support and welfare to those in need within the community.
The OERB operates traditionally through Oshwal Volunteers who provide their time and services to assist in running the Board’s activities and institutions.
The schools
The OERB has four schools on three sites in the Parklands area of Nairobi. The Primary and Junior High have a campus at the junction of 1st and 2nd Parklands Avenue and Mpaka Road and Senior High and Nursery campus are found either side of Wambugu Road off Limuru Road. In Mombasa all schools are found on one campus on Beach Road West in Nyali. The Academy has a total of 3076students and 350 teaching staff members, catering for classes from Nursery to Year 13.
The Curriculum
Oshwal Academy is a British National Curriculum school offering Pearson EdExcel and Cambridge qualifications at IGCSE and A Level and International Primary and Middle Year Curriculums at Primary and Nursery Levels.These curriculums provide a learning framework of the highest quality, which the academy is able to modify and develop to reflect and meet the needs of all its students. The language of instruction used is English.
The Facilities
The Academy provides a quality learning environment backed up by purpose built, modern, well equipped and up to the standards facilities and premises. Which include: Administration offices, Science Laboratories, Career centres, Multi-purpose Sports ground, Self-study locations assigned to students, Computer labs and Library.
Curriculum Enrichment
The ethos of the Academy is based on high expectations of work ethic and behaviour. Students are always encouraged to broaden their outlook through training programmes, counselling; involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; external competitions and Awards.
